Report
Another great day of golf in Thornbury for the 14th Edition of our games (12th time in the South Gloucestershire golf club).
Next time we will play there we will all have to reach the club by cycling considering the amount of roadwork to build a preferential biking lane which is going on at the moment.
Is that Zack P magic? what next? Net Zero Golf? Solarpunk Golf?
Only few drops of water luckily but strong winds especially over the second nine holes. This helped our Bavarian Tiger to win (for the second time, after the 7th edition) the longest drive at hole 18.
Bravo Horst! he won also the surprise 500 gr Gnocchi De Cecco prize for being second last overall.
A very accurate shot in the wind, gave Andy the nearest to the pin Trophy for the first time (actually he was the only one reaching the green!).
Golfing life is strange, he had prepared himself from hole 1 for the Longest Drive but ended up winning the other special trophy. Indeed, it was a great shot.
Both Daniel and George had great rounds as defending Champions (the former in the last Thornbury September Classic and the latter in the newly established Shirehampton April one).
Dan won also the other surprise 500 gr Gnocchi prize for the third place.
Then Jon had another great golfing day scoring a superb 38 and making second (second, twice in a row at Thornbury). Unlucky, because I had one of the best round of my "golfing career"...sometimes all the putts find the hole. Sorry Jon! The greens were in immaculate shape and this helped me a lot I think.
Last but not least, the always resilient and smiling Malcolm showed his consistency and easily won the "Steele Award" with a surprise, some great Biscotti del Mulino Bianco, hard to find in Bristol and vicinities.
His win was celebrated profusely as always down the roads of Dublin and Belfast (liters of Guinness consumed) of an at least morally re-unified Republic!
