08/09/18 Training session (Saville Road) - 10:30-12:00

Mild weather conditions, cloudy.

A good turnout for the first training session of the season. After an intense initial session of physical training, multiple exercises with the ball

(one to one passing skills). Later, the presence of more than 20 players allowed to create 4 Bantams teams for playing friendlies.
Very animated games, as always, and an incredible good save by William Woodman.

15/09/18 Training session (Saville Road) - 10:30-12:00

Again very mild weather conditions, cloudy but no rain (unbelievable! England's weather looks like being in Sicily nowadays).

Another very robust turnout with almost 30 players available, including Robyn and Elsa. Training operations directed by The Fantastic Four
Coaches: Tom, Dave, Andy and for the very first time Jago, who was wearing a fantastic vintage Juventus shirt (!).
Attack versus defense situation were tested with an interesting typical 4 against 3 routine, especially testing the ability to cooperate defensively.

Luca Revill was amongst the best with his optimal tackling timing. In the second part of training, the ususal (very) animated matches saw some
spectacular goals (including the ones by Lucas Searle and William Woodman, a missile from a long distance).

The two final scores were 2-1 and 4-1, respectively. Tight games in which a new attitude about cooperating and passing could be observed, perhaps.
Are these kids finally developing an increased football awareness? Posterity will judge.

22/09/18 Versus Clifton United (Abbots Leigh Road) 11:00-12:30

Miserable conditions, cold and heavy rain.

Matt Thomas' report:

"So proud of my players today - unbelievable spirit, effort and skill - great work kids."

1st match vs A's?

From 0-1 behind to win 2-1.

Willima W with the first.

Luca attempt coming off the keeper and a defender for an own goal for second.

2nd match vs B's?

3-2 win (could have been 5 or 6).

William W scored first from a corner! (came off a defender), Ollie with a great strike for the second.

Hugo H with the winner.

3rd match vs C's?

Ollie scored great 1st goal from a very tight angle.

Hugo was in goal and pulled back which resulted in a penalty. William W scored it.

Oliver C kept the ball in play with a back heel which ended with William scoring in the top

left corner. Oscar had a great attempt saved.

Tom Hore's report:

"So to the dark blues - They'll be up for it next week!"

1) Redford Hall

2) Riley Stark

3) Oliver Jones

4) Alexandros Pantazis

5) James Legg

6) Lucas Searle

Won 3-1 goals by Redford, Alexandros, and owngoal from a Redford corner.

Lost 3-1 (Alexandros) a bit of failure to clear our lines cost us.
Lastly a 4-0 defeat, players feeling very cold, a controversial first goal and some missed

opportunities. But everyone put the effort in on a miserable day.

29/09/18 Versus Bishop Road Buccaneers (Fenton Road) 10:30-12:00

Summer time: sunny with blue sky, pitches dry.

Andrea's report:

"History is made with the first "official" keepers playing for Bantams: Riley in the first game and Samuel Cunningham and then William
Woodman when the result was already 3-2 in the second game. Coach Andy uses an efficient and balanced 3 2 2 strategy with Oliver playing
in front of Bantams goal and Midgley and Woodman up front, a very good display by Chapman as a left back. Generally well played by the
Bantams although sometimes midfield is left a bit empty".

Tom's report:

"Light Blue Bantams - Match 1. A great team effort with two memorable goals, James scored direct from a corner curling just inside the

far post, and Alexandros scored with a header from a corner by Oscar. It finished 2-2. We need to do a bit of work on defending corners.

Excellent defensive work by Elsa and Lucas backed by Hugo safe hands and strong kicking in goal. William helped create some excellent

chances, in a game we could easily have won. Match 2. Same team with addition of Lucas. 8 a side. Goals by William B, Alexandros and Oscar M

saw us home 3-1 in a game we could have had 6 or 7. Another very strong all round team performance, with good commitment. Bbbbbb BANTAMS!!!!!".

06/10/18 Training session (Saville Road) - 10:30-12:00

Tom Hore's report: "Wet, very wet, cold, windy, and 25 cold and wet children being harangued by three cold and wet adults.

A resilience building day, borne by most fortitude. One for the scrapbook."

13/10/18 Versus Shine & Ashley FC (Saville Road) 10:30-12:00

Heavy wind, some rain but mild temperatures (at least for me).

A reasonable display for most of the Bantams Teams against strong or very strong sides (2 Shine teams - the official fixtures, plus 1 Ashley Down FC team).

Teams A lose all of their games but with a solid performance of Oliver Jones (in the goal in all the games). The goal of Tristan is filmed by Peter and it is,

I believe, the first "filmed" Bantams goal. Tristan had to leave in advance due to an ankle injury. In the other game, Pantazis "scatenato" with 5 goals for Bantams C and good braces for Belling and Blake.

Fog! but then sunny (summer time!).

30 Bantams players involved in the clash with the Sonics. Golden Hill Sonics were the best but however most of the games were tight and all the three Bantams teams did show at least some bits of good stuff. Impressive defensive display by Elsa Woodbridge and Samuel Chapman.

10/11/18 Training session (Saville Road) - 10:00-11:30

Wet, very wet, rainy, very rainy, cold and windy as well, however more than 20 Bantams players are available for this session of training led by

Nigel, Andy and Tom. After a good deal of physical excercise (to fight the rainy and cold weather), the usual animated matches closed the training

session. Some of the parents had to be helped due to hypothermia, the Football Association should give them a medal sooner or later.

17/11/18 Versus Westbury Park Foxes (The Downs - Saville Road) 10:30-12:00

Sunny but quite cold!

Bantams cannot win any game (each Bantam team draws one game and loses the next) this time against the brave Foxes who outplayed our teams not only in attack
but also in the way they organize their defense. In addition, some spectacular goalkeeping from The Foxes goalies avoid goals that seemed already a done thing!
Nevertheless, a positive point for the Bantams are the two goals scored from corners (record!) by Nate and James M and the fact that most of the results
were anyway pretty tight. Hugo Holmes with his caparbity is able to "induce" an owngoal and in the same game delivers
an assist to Alexandros. Alex Eaves was back for his first game of the season with the Bantams.

24/11/18 Training session (Saville Road) - 10:00-11:30

Rainy and cold. However more than 20 Bantams players are available for this session of training led by Dave, Andy and Tom. Best trining session

of the season so far probably. Session started with a very good deal of physical excercise led by Dave. Then a very good session in mini-groups
of attack/defence that allowed to increase the technical skill of shooting (with both foots!) and goalkeeping as well. The usual animated mini-matches
closed the training session. An important note. Football was played by everyone much better than what is usually seen in the "official"
friendly matches. More passing, more tendency to occupy positions in the pitch in a well distributed fashion. All in all, an increased awareness

about this beautiful (and difficult) game. Can this attitude be transferred to the friendly games? It won't be easy but it is pretty safe to imagine

that all the players could really take advantage from the forthcoming additional mid-week training days.

01/12/18 Training session (Saville Road) - 10:00-11:30

Dry and not cold. Muddy pitches. Another very good session of training that anticipates the last two Saturdays of the year in which two official games

will be played (the first away versus Shine and the second in Savilel Road versus Rockleaze). Will the Bantams be able to show the good things seen in these last two training sessions? Good (and tough) question! Let's hope yes.

08/12/18 Versus Shine (Blaise Primary School - Crow Road) - 9:00-10:00

No rain and pitches in good conditions considering the rain of previous day.

A single game at 9:00 due to the crazy request by the shameless Shine that are able to field only 6 players (some action should be taken).

Result? 10-0 for us (and two bars hit by Oliver and Marco). This is the record score for a win so far for our Bantams U10. Played very well, with a very good attitude at passing and positioning over the pitch. Players were able to communicate and helped each other also in defense. The last good training sessions seem to have worked pretty well.  The isolated game was followed by the usual animated training session at the Downs led by Tom and Nigel. Elsa, Marco, Lucas, Alexandros, Oliver and Oscar joined the training session after the early morning game.

15/12/18 Versus Rockleaze Rangers (The Downs - Saville Road) 10:00-11:00

Horrible weather! Rain and cold wind.

Still, 22 heroic playesr as well as some of our coaches and parents are able to show up and take up 16 Rangers players.

Only 2 games are played though due to the inclement weather conditions. Players could not produce enough movement, as reported by Mark Cunningham. However,

Bantams played reasonably well (although they could have defended better, as stated by Tom Hore) and Rockleaze played well too. The final combined utcome was 7-7

(1 W - 1 L). It is relevant to note that James Legg scored probably the fastest U10 Bantams goal so far just after kick-off.
